Fifth disease is a viral infection caused by a human parvovirus (B19). It may affect any individual at any age group irrespective of their health condition, but affects mostly children between 5 to 14 years of age.The disease spread through respiratory outlets from nose and throat of an infected person.Symptoms may appear within 7 days to 14 days after exposure.If pregnant women exposed to virus it may cause some serious problems to her baby.
Low grade fever, weakness, fatique in the early stages, and then a rash may appear around the cheeks like the child has been slapped on both the cheeks. After sometimes the rashes may appear on other parts of the body.Joint pain is also reported in many cases.

Physical examination of a physician by examining the appearing and texture of the rash and other associated symptoms.Antibody tests to find out antibodies against the virus.
There is no specific treatment for the disease. The rashes may return for two to three weeks and will disappear.Symptomatic treatment is given to patients to regain normal health condition.
